The beginning

This is quite exciting! Today 12111 we begin our journey. I would have preferred to have a 11111 start date but hey...This blog marries two of my favourite things: creating stuff from paper and encouraging people, especially children. I honestly believe that children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way (As a little girl I had a big poster with the words from the Whitney Houston Song "Greatest Love of all", on my wall) Children have eager minds willing and ready to soak up what they experience each day. We have a duty as a society and to our children to create environments that inspire them. They need to grow up believing they can achieve anything. I am not saying cutting bits of paper into origami etc is the ultimate answer but think about it...whenever you actually managed to solve a problem, you walked away with a new found confidence...creativity is simply problem solving with many possibilities. Teaching papercraft to children as been one of the most fun rewarding things I have ever engaged in. The excitement from the children, their enthusiasm and their different interpretations of the brief, never ceases to amaze me.  Tommorow we will be working on our keepsake boxes and I just got a cricut machine, its absolutely amazing, I have been cutting every bit of paper in site... i cant wait to see how the children will receive this new found toy!
